About Teams and Topics

About Teams and Topics

If your course includes team-based activities, you can access the Teams page to view a list of topics created by the course staff, along with their descriptions.

You can browse these topics to find one that interests you. Each team is associated with a specific topic, and you can explore the available teams within that topic.

For each team, you can review:

  • Team members
  • Team details
  • Ongoing discussions

This information can help you decide which team to join. If you don’t find a suitable team, you have the option to create a new team within your chosen topic.

For more details, see Browse Topics and Find a Team to Join.

You can be a member of only one team at a time. For details on how to join or leave a team, see Join a Team and Leave a Team
.

Browse Topics and Find a Team to Join

Follow these steps to explore topics and find a team:

  1. Go to the Teams page in your course.
  2. Select the Browse tab.
  3. On the Browse page, view the list of available topics.
    • You can sort topics alphabetically or by the number of teams within each topic.
  4. Once you find a topic of interest, select the arrow button to view existing teams within that topic.
    • Teams can be sorted by recent activity or by open slots available.
    • You can also search for teams using keywords (see Search for a Team for more details).

Each team’s name, description, and member count will be displayed, helping you determine if there is space for you to join.

  1. To learn more about a team, select View.
    • On the Team Details page, you can browse discussion posts and see team communications.
    • However, you can only participate in discussions once you have joined the team.

Note: You can easily return to the list of teams within a topic or the full list of topics by using the breadcrumb links at the top of the Team Details page. These links help you navigate back without losing your place.
