How Grading Is Done In Open Response Assessments
Grading for every type of assessment in an ORA assignment is based on a standardized set of guidelines called a rubric. Each open response assessment includes a rubric created by the course team.
A rubric is made up of multiple criteria, each with a set of options to evaluate performance.
The key components of a rubric are:
- Criteria: These define the essential characteristics a response should include, such as key concepts or the required level of supporting information.
- Options: Each criterion has a range of options that indicate how well the response meets the requirements. These options typically include ratings like "Fair," "Good," or "Excellent," along with descriptions to guide evaluation.
When assessing a response, you review it against the rubric and select the option that best reflects how well the response meets each criterion.
