Troubleshooting Access to Course Content

Troubleshooting Access to Course Content

In many courses, all content is available in the course outline on the Course page as soon as the course starts. However, in some cases, content becomes accessible at different times.

Course content may be unavailable for the following reasons:

  • The course team has scheduled specific content for release on certain dates. This content becomes visible in the course outline only on the designated release date. For more information, refer to Course Content with Release Dates.
  • Certain parts of the course have prerequisites that must be completed before accessing them. For details, see Course Content with Prerequisites.
  • The course team may restrict access to some content after specific deadlines, such as assignment due dates or the course end date.

Course Content with Release Dates

When content has release dates, it becomes available only on or after the specified dates. In many courses, new content is released weekly at a set time.

To check the release schedule for your course, review the updates on the Course page or post your questions in the course discussion forums.

Course Content with Prerequisites

Some courses include content that can only be accessed after achieving a minimum score in a prerequisite section. In the course outline, such content is marked with a lock icon and references the prerequisite section that must be completed.

If you attempt to open a section before meeting its prerequisite, a message will appear, such as:
You must earn a passing score for 'Section N' to access this content.

The message will also include a link to the prerequisite section.

Once you complete the prerequisite and achieve a passing score, the section will appear in the course outline with an unlocked icon, allowing you to open and complete it.
